COPYRIGHT, WHAT COPYRIGHT

The Bookman was interested in this piece from the Private Bin column of today's National Busines Review:

Montana Book Awards winner Emily Perkins (pic left)was temporarily caught short for words when she learned her publisher had joined a writers' festival promotion in England that included first chapters of participating authors on a website.
The problem was that Perkins' novel had no chapters and the entire text was available for downlaoding free of charge - which does nothing for the author's income.
An embarrassed publisher soon took down the book in yet another twist to the continuing saga of print publishers enagaing with the internet.
