A.A. Gill is the restaurant and television critic for the Sunday Times, and a contributing editor to Vanity Fair, GQ and Australian Gourmet Traveller. His new book is The Golden Door: Letters to America (Orion, ISBN: 978-0-297-85865-2).

9:05 Bob Wood
Major Bob Wood served with the 19th Wellington Battalion of the First Echelon during World War II, and spent time in prison camps in Italy and Germany. He moved from Christchurch to Australia after the war, worked for insurance company AMP for many years, helped form parent support service The Australian Birthright Movement, and was involved in the management of the New South Wales Returned Services League for many years.

9:30 Aly Cook
Nelson musician Aly Cook is a self-managed independent recording artist, and social media strategist. Last year she crowdfunded the production of her album Brand New Day; the album’s single, Midnight Sun, was a Top 20 record on the Australian Country charts. Aly Cook will perform at The Wellington Bluegrass Society in Petone on 30 June.

Shona McCullagh is a choreographer, filmmaker and Arts Laureate, who last year formed the New Zealand Dance Company, a national contemporary dance company based in Auckland. The company’s premiere season is Language of Living, a programme of five works at Auckland’s ASB Theatre (10-11 August).

Ioan Grillo is a journalist, writer and TV producer based in Mexico City, who has been covering Latin America since 2001, His first book is El Narco: the Bloody Rise of Mexican Drug Cartels (Bloomsbury, ISBN: 978-1-4088-2634-8).
