The historic 1963 speech of Martin Luther King, the achievements of Nelson Mandela and the literary skills of Albert Camus will be among the highlights of the events at the Southbank Centre's Autumn Literature season (October 23-November 28).
It will be 50 years on August 28 since King’s iconic 'I have a dream' speech, the culmination of the March on Washington For Jobs and Freedom rally, and it will be celebrated in an all-day multimedia event featuring The Last Poets, a group of acclaimed poets and musicians who arose from the late 1960s African-American civil rights movement.
The hundredth anniversary of the birth of Camus (November 7) will be commemorated with a dramatised reading of The Outsider featuring five actors, projections and live music.
