Don’t miss the chance to stop by the BCBF Event Network Stand, located at the Services Centre, close to hall 26. As you may already know, this year the Bologna Children’s Book Fair has expanded its reach with two new dates for the diary in the some of the most important markets for global publishing: the USA and China. 
  • The New York Rights Fair
    (30th May – 1st June 2018 – New York City)
    BolognaFiere, in partnership with Publishers Weekly and The Combined Book Exhibit, presents the NYRF, the first trade and licensing show in the U.S. dedicated exclusively to the international rights, distribution and licensing of content for both adult and children’s.
  • The China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair (9th- 11th November 2018, Shanghai)
    From this year onward BolognaFiere is the co-organizer of CCBF, the only book fair in the Asia Pacific completely dedicated to books and content for children and a premium event for the global children’s publishing industry.
Together with our partners we are glad to invite all our friends to toast to the two events on 27th March, at 5:30 pm, at the BCBF Event Network Stand.
IN MEMORY OF CARLA POESIO:
“A WOMAN OF PASSION: THE STUDY, INTERPRETATION AND WRITING OF CHILDREN'S BOOKS”
Bologna Children's Book Fair pays tribute to the literary critic Carla Poesio and her unique role in the birth and development of the fair since its beginning in the 1960s. it was Carla who, during the days of the Fair, welcomed and accompanied the international press through the latest developments in the publishing sector, providing also advice and suggestions that made her an irreplaceable key person. The panel of the conference, to be held on Wednesday 28th, will include professors at the University, representatives of of the leading publications in the field of children’s books, journalists and authors who knew Carla and her work. The Carla Poesio Award will also be launched, and from 2019 will acknowledge the best Italian university dissertation on the subject of children’s literature.

THE ANNOUNCEMENT
OF INTERNATIONAL AWARDS
Also this year, BCBF is the stage chosen by international organizations for the announcement of their prestigious prizes. These are the appointments not to be missed:
IBBY - Hans Christian Andersen Award 2018: the announcement of the prize will be held on Monday 26th March, at 2:30 pm, Illustrators Café.
Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award 2018: announced through live broadcast from Stockholm on Tuesday 27th March, at 12:45 pm, Illustrators Café.
A FAIR FULL OF HUNDREDS OF MEETING SEMINARS, CONFERENCES AND ROUND TABLES FOR EVERYONE
The rich programme of events is dedicated to all the professionals attending the fair. The themes will be many and include every aspect of the wide topic of children’s content: from new trends in illustration to reading promotion, from audiobooks to augmented reality, from bestsellers to the most promising unpublished works.

BOLOGNA DIGITAL
MIXED REALITIES OF PUBLISHING
AR as a platform for publishing will further emerge in our programme in 2018. In diverse presentations from GoogleEllybee and Soapbox (to mention just a few) you will find a huge amount of discussion on digital audio and augmented reality. From illustrator and artist presentations on the creative process to product and concept presentations from Wacom and Moleskine, we will be looking into the convergence of tech, creativity and publishing. We have conference events too in Hall 32 such as the Student Ideasfest,  Audiobooks, Cinema and Apps, Video games and finally the Fondazione Scuola talking about apps and Education (see the general programme for times and days).

NURTURING A YOUTHFUL HUMANISM:
200 CHILDREN'S BOOKS ILLUSTRATING THE POPE'S WORDS
This exhibition, created by the Bologna Children’s Book Fair on the occasion of the visit of Pope Francis to Bologna in October 2017, will now be presented at the fair to the international children’s book community.
200 picture books that look into contemporary issues ranging from the concept of “joyful sobriety”, unity and dialogue, work and the dignity it brings, through to the environment and migration.
The exhibition is accompanied by a bilingual Italian/English catalogue, downloadable free of charge at www.youthful-humanism.it, which includes contributions by internationally renowned authors and experts.

THE MAGIC OF CINEMA AND STAGE LANDS IN BOLOGNA WITH "THE EXTRAORDINARY LIBRARY 2. IT'S SHOWTIME"
The Magic of cinema and stage lands in Bologna with “The Extraordinary Library 2. It’s Showtime!”
This year, the collaboration between Bologna Children’s Book Fair and Pitti Immagine Bimbo, the international fair for new trends in childrenswear, saw the creation of “The Extraordinary Library 2. It’s Showtime!”, a selection of 100 picture books for children focused on the magic of the show and stage with stunning titles dedicated to cinema, theatre, ballet, opera, acrobatic arts and the circus. During the Bologna Children’s Book Fair the exhibition will be on show at the Fondazione Cineteca (via Riva di Reno, 72-Bologna).
